Montgomery County Needs More Pie!
When budget season rolls around, it sometimes feels like we in the justice community have to scrap for a fair piece of the pie. But not with the proposed budget before the Montgomery County Councill!
Strong funding for education, affordable housing, and vital social services means we're not fighting for a piece of the pie; it means now there's a bigger pie, with enough for everyone in our whole community.
Now it's up to us to make sure the pie isn't sliced away in the final budget.
Join us on the evenings of Tuesday, April 5, Wednesday April 6 and Thursday April 7th as we pack the room for the Montgomery County Council Budget Hearings, and tell our lawmakers: Montgomery County Needs More Pie!
Here's how to help.
Several JUFJers will be testifying at these public hearings on behalf of critical, basic social services for our most vulnerable neighbors. Your supportive presence in the audience will help them deliver this message in a more powerful way.
Register here, and indicate which date(s) you plan to attend. We will meet before the hearings start each night at 6:15pm, before walking over to the County Council Building together. The hearings start at 7:00pm and are expected to last about 2 hours.
Email Andy with any questions (firstname.lastname@example.org). We look forward to seeing you there!
