Training for Understanding and Combating Racism
07/31/2011 - 3:00pm
07/31/2011 - 6:00pm
Religious Action Center, 2027 Massachusetts Ave NW
Cherie Brown did a great training for the Jeremiah fellows this year, and now JUFJ's Anti-Racism Initiative is bringing her back to do a training open to all members of JUFJ! She is the founder and executive director of the National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI), an internationally recognized nonprofit leadership training organization. NCBI has trained over 10,000 people to combat prejudice, resolve intergroup conflict and launch activist-based coalitions.
At the training, we will discuss race and racism, gain skills for combating oppression and explore what it means to fight racism as Jews. Space is limited, so please RSVP here by Monday, July 18th to let us know you can make it. You can also e-mail Lizzie (email@example.com) to learn more or hear about future trainings.
Jews United for Justice shares information about events & opportunities sponsored by JUFJ allies, or information about local Jewish or inter-faith events and opportunities which concern local social justice issues, local anti-poverty work, or religious teachings about social justice issues.
It is up to our discretion whether or not to list a particular event or opportunity. No events will be listed which take place outside of the greater DC area, or which focus primarily on international issues. We may choose not to publicize events which take place on Shabbat (the Jewish Sabbath - from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday), or on Jewish holidays.
To submit an event or opportunity for consideration to be listed on our website please email us a one-paragraph description.
