While our communities suffer and so many desperately need jobs, 58% of the U.S. government’s discretionary budget goes to the Pentagon. Most of this huge budget is both unnecessary and wasteful. Saturday, March 23, Marylanders will hit the road to demand that Congress prioritize human needs over war.
Join Progressive Maryland and the Maryland Coalition to Fund Our Communities, Not the Pentagon on a bus/auto caravan from Baltimore to Capitol Hill. Or, drive along and/or meet the group at any of the six stops showcasing community needs, unmet largely due to the greed, wealth and undue influence of war profiteers. You'll be part of the video being professionally produced to document the event and issues.

Produced and directed by Emmy award-winning filmmakers Joe and Harry Gantz, American Winter is a documentary feature film that follows the personal stories of families struggling in the aftermath of the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression.

Years after the recession began, millions of families are struggling to meet their basic needs, and many formerly middle class families are finding themselves in financial crisis, and needing assistance for the first time in their lives.

Meanwhile, the social safety net that was created to help people in difficult times has been weakened by massive budget cuts, creating a perfect storm of greater need and fewer resources to help families in trouble.

Filmed over the course of one winter in Portland, Oregon, American Winter presents an intimate and emotionally evocative snapshot of the state of our economy as it is playing out in many American families.

moveDC Public Input Meeting

03/28/2013 - 6:00pm
Etc/GMT
Location:
Wilson High School: 3950 Chesapeake Street NW

Have you heard about moveDC? It's the District Department of Transportation (DDOT)'s initiative to put together a coordinated, multimodal long range transportation plan, addressing all modes of transportation in the District.

The moveDC plan will incorporate livable streets, roadways, bicycles, pedestrians, transit, freight, maritime, and railroads, as well as an implementation element.
DDOT is doing a lot to encourage public participation and input into the plan. On February 9, they held a day-long public idea exchange, and are now transitioning into a series of four public input meetings across the city.

moveDC is the most important opportunity we'll have to influence the shape of transportation in D.C., so if you care about these issues, please let us know if you can attend by RSVPing with CSG.
