Chicken Soup for Restaurant Week!
It's time to remind our fellow Washingtonians that together we can make a healthier, more sustainable food system for all!
During Restaurant Week, JUFJ volunteers will be delivering flowers and get-well-soon cards to workers at restaurants. We know that many of them have had to come to work sick at some point, or may be sick now - Restaurant Opportunities Center found that three out of five DC restaurant workers have had to work while sick. The flowers and cards will show that consumers care not only about the safety of our food, but also about the treatment of the workers.
Please sign our petition and spread the word - sign up to get involved in the campaign and receive updates.
Also, if you're on Twitter, we're planning a storm! Between 1:30 and 3:30 on Thursday 8/16, please tweet about why it's important to provide paid sick days for restaurant workers, using the hashtag #paidsickdaysDC. Let's make this a topic of conversation during Restaurant Week!
