Jews United for Justice (JUFJ) was created in April, 1998, by a small group of Jews in the greater Washington, DC area. Drawing on a tradition of Jewish commitment to justice and the talents and dedication of our leaders, JUFJ was founded as a grassroots community that seeks to repair the world by concentrating on issues of local concern.

In the over 20 years since our founding, we have grown from that small group of Jews to a vibrant community with a deep commitment to local organizing and advancing progress through legislative campaigning. We have expanded our footprint to Baltimore, Montgomery County, and Annapolis, and launched a Campaign Fund to endorse local candidates who align with our values.

JUFJ has been involved in successful campaigns to pass minimum wage increases, paid sick days, and paid family leave. We have worked for criminal justice reform, renters’ rights, and gun violence prevention.
