DC Housing Security Working Group June Meeting

DC

Jewish sacred texts recognize that having safe, stable housing is key to a healthy society. Join our Housing Security Working Group meeting on Zoom to discuss our current campaigns, and how we are working with our partners to ensure that everyone in DC has a safe, stable, affordable place to live.

Mont. County Council: PHP Worksession on Rent Stabilization Regulations

Montgomery County

Jewish tradition teaches us that everyone deserves a safe and stable home. Though Montgomery County passed a Rent Stabilization law last year that will cap the rent at a maximum of 6%, the regulations must pass before the bill can go into effect.
The Planning, Housing and Parks Committee (PHP) is holding a worksession on the proposed rent stabilization regulations on Thursday, June 27th in-person at the County Council Building. Join us and our partners at the Council Building at 1 PM ahead of the 1:30 PM worksession.

JUFJ’s DC Budget Bash

DC
Turkey Thicket Recreation Center
1100 Michigan Ave NE, Washington, DC

DC’s budget season has its ups and downs, but one thing is always true — the work that JUFJers and our partners have done to demand a moral budget is worth celebrating! Join us for a celebratory picnic to honor the work that we have all done together toward fair pay for early educators, housing for all, and a tax system that meets people’s needs. Families are welcome.

Montgomery County Racial Equity and Policing Team Meeting

Montgomery County

Jewish sacred texts declare that destroying even one life is akin to destroying a whole world. But here in Montgomery County, lives are destroyed every day, especially Black and brown lives, by our systems of policing and school discipline. Join us for our next team meeting to discuss ongoing campaigns to transform public safety in our County.

Rockville City Council Meeting: Rent Stabilization Discussion

Montgomery County

Jewish tradition teaches us that everyone deserves a safe and stable home. Though Montgomery County passed a Rent Stabilization law last year that will cap the rent at a maximum of 6%, Rockville is exempt from this legislation as a municipality.

Join JUFJ and our partners in the Montgomery County Racial Equity Network at the Rockville City Council meeting where the city council will hear a briefing on rent stabilization, and then discuss whether the city will adapt protections for stable and predictable rents. We will meet at Rockville City Hall at 6 PM for a rally ahead of the 7 PM City Council session. You do not need to live in the City of Rockville to attend this meeting.
