DC domestic workers deserve the same workplace rights as all other workers. Join Hand in Hand and JUFJ to thank Councilmembers for their support and continue to advocate to pass the Domestic Worker Bill of Rights. We'll meet with employers and other supporters at the Wilson Building and talk with Councilmembers as we advocate to pass the bill before the end of 2022.

Time to Care Coalition Meeting

Our next full coalition meeting will be on Thursday, November 3 at 4pm on Zoom. We will be joined by some of our national partners who will provide us with a federal update on paid leave efforts and help us view our campaign in the scope of what is happening nationally. We'll also talk about the 2023 Maryland General Assembly and what we'll be doing as a coalition this session.

Raise awareness about this historic ballot measure on Election Day with JUFJ and our partners at CJSJ, SURJ, and CASA. Help pass local control in Baltimore by signing up for a shift on Election Day! Folks must attend a Zoom training on Monday from 7-8 PM, and pick up materials at CASA on Sunday from 10 AM - 1 PM, or JUFJ on Monday from 12 PM - 6 PM. You will receive more information via email after you RSVP.

Movie Screening & Panel Discussion: Policing in Schools

Please join JUFJ, the Silver Spring Justice Coalition, Racial Justice NOW!, the Muslim Voices Coalition, and MoCo Against Brutality for an in-person movie screening of On These Grounds, a powerful documentary about the harm of police in schools. This event will be hosted by Councilmember Will Jawando, an outspoken legislative champion of Police Free Schools, and will include a moderated panel about policing in schools following the documentary screening.

What does it mean to be an Orthodox Jew engaging in social justice? Join JUFJ to welcome Dr. Hannah Lebovits for a hybrid community conversation about affordable housing, progressive advocacy, and the Orthodox community. Hannah Lebovits is an assistant professor of public affairs at the University of Texas-Arlington and a contributing columnist at the Forward. Her research and teaching focus on topics related to housing and homelessness, community development, and social sustainability. A graduate of Beth Jacob of Jerusalem and Touro's Lander College for Women, Hannah now lives in the Dallas Orthodox community with her husband and two children.

The event will be hybrid; the Zoom component will be live-captioned.
