In observance of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, BHC Justice, Beth Am Synagogue Social Action Committee, Kol HaLev Social Action Committee, Jews United for Justice, and others are sponsoring a screening and discussion of the documentary Charm City. Directed by renowned documentary producer Marilyn Ness (Cameraperson; Trapped; E-Team), Charm City was filmed over three tumultuous years covering the lead up to, and aftermath of, Freddie Gray’s death in police custody. It provides an intimate portrait of those surviving in, and fighting for, the vibrant city they call home. A talk-back following the screening will feature Alex Long, a SafeStreets violence interrupter featured in the film, and other Baltimore activists. Refreshments will be served.Find out more »
