Jews United for Justice has produced a little booklet with a big mission: to work for the day when every one of the $30 million dollars that Jewish families in our area spend on weddings and bar and bat mitzvah celebrations every year will be spent in a way that reflects Jewish values.

Each section of the booklet offers specific suggestions for how families can make purchasing choices for their special day in ways that are mindful of workers’ rights and environmental impact.

The book is illustrated throughout with Jewish teachings, and with the real-life stories of more than forty DC-area families who made creative green and just choices for their own celebrations.

Throughout Jewish Baltimore, dozens of organizations came together to create the Baltimore version of the guide. The Baltimore Green & Just Celebrations Guide helps families in our area make their special day a treasured memory, shared with loved ones, and exemplified by Jewish values. Learn more about making conscientious spending decisions while balancing cost against impact on the world.

The Baltimore Green & Just Celebrations guide is a project of the Baltimore Jewish Green & Just Alliance, formerly American Jewish Congress Maryland Chapter. To request physical copies of the Guide, please contact them at 410-484-8863 or baltimorejewishgreenandjust@gmail.com.

2021 Update: Baltimore Jewish Green and Just Alliance has now published a one-page supplemental insert that updates the links in the Guide below. Click here to download the pdf!
