Joanna Blotner joined the JUFJ staff in February 2015 after a few years of engaging with the organization as a volunteer. She successfully managed JUFJ’s DC Paid Family Leave Campaign and shepherded the paid leave law to implementation in 2020. Her portfolio currently includes JUFJ’s DC legislative and implementation work related to worker rights, child care, public health, and tax, revenue, and budgets; she also serves as the Legislative Director of the Under 3 DC Coalition, of which JUFJ is an anchor organization, working to advance the funding and vision of the Birth-to-Three for All DC Act.

A lifelong faith-based advocate, Joanna has previously served as the Policy Manager at the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice, the Religion and Faith Program Coordinator at the Human Rights Campaign, and as a Legislative Assistant at the Religious Action Center for Reform Judaism. Joanna was born in DC and grew up in Montgomery County and feels very fortunate to be advancing justice in her home communities. When she’s not working, you can most likely find Joanna volunteering in the Natural History Museum’s insect zoo or on local progressive electoral campaigns.

Joanna uses she/her/hers pronouns.
