Robert Barkin has been a member of the Board of JUFJ since 2013, and currently serves as Treasurer. In his nonprofit career, he served as executive vice president of the congregational arm of the Reconstructionist Jewish movement from 2010-2012. He was also a member of its Board of Directors and served four years as its president. In the Washington, DC area, Robert was the president of Adat Shalom Reconstructionist Congregation in Bethesda, MD and currently sits on the board of the Jewish Community Relations Council.
Professionally, Robert is retired as President of Arkos Group, a marketing communications firm. Prior to moving to Washington, he was a journalist with a number of newspapers. Robert and his wife, Cathy (a journalist), live in Bethesda. They have two daughters Robert is a graduate of the University of Michigan, Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and the University of Miami School of Business.
