“CHARM CITY” Documentary Screening and Discussion

April 14 | 6:00 pm - 9:30 pm
Montgomery County
Adat Shalom, 7727 Persimmon Tree Lane
Bethesda,MD20817United States
+ Google Map

CHARM CITY delivers a candid portrait of citizens, police, community advocates, and government officials on the frontlines during three years of unparalleled, escalating violence in Baltimore. The film highlights the positive actions undertaken by groups and individuals, including Baltimore's implementation of Safe Streets. Safe Streets "emphasizes the delivery of a unified message that violence is no longer acceptable through community organization and public education. Safe Streets also incorporates and emphasizes a strong street outreach component, with outreach workers canvassing neighborhoods and connecting with high-risk youth and young adults during evenings and weekends to diffuse situations and link them to services."

Following the documentary, there will be a panel discussion featuring Alex Long, a violence interrupter with Safe Streets whose experience working with youth in his Baltimore community is featured in the film, and Brandy H. M. Brooks, a Board Member of Montgomery County Renters Alliance & IMPACT Silver Spring.

Doors open at 6pm. Film will begin at 6:15pm. Snacks will be provided.
